"Where Are They Now?" Tyler Shares His Nature Trail Updates

We love getting updates from our AdCap entrepreneurs! We’re immensely proud of the hard work from Tyler and his team at Hubbard ISD. We first met Tyler when he attended an SAP Social Innovation Series workshop, and while he didn’t win a grant at that event, he thought through feedback he received from his mentors, and then visited AdCapYOUTh.org to submit his revised idea. He was awarded a $1000 grant to help increase physical activity at his school by building a nature trail. Keep reading for an update on his Project – way to go, Tyler!!!! “The nature trail is very developed now and the project has made much progress. The project is very close to being completed and the only challenges we have faced are time and availability. The trail looks amazing now that we have cleared almost everything out of the way and we have cleared more paths into the woods from which we have gotten most of the length of the trail. We have accomplished almost all of our small goals and the trail should be completely finished by next school year so that we can host cross country meets and other events.”

-Tyler P., AdVenture Capital Winner, Texas

Mrs Woodall, Tyler’s teacher and our AdVenture Capital supporter at his school, adds the following:

“This has been a school-wide effort with several groups getting involved, including both of the Pioneers Youth Leadership classes, the agriculture classes, and other students in high school. Tyler ordered and picked up many tools and supplies needed for this project, using the AdCap funds he received. These items have been readily used by several teachers/coaches and their students who have helped clear, haul brush, blaze possible paths, and even use the bulldozer to break through parts of the trail to its entirety as shown by Tyler's aerial view of his trail he sent in before. It has been amazing to see everyone come together to make this happen. This trail even incorporates the old railroad bed long since cleared out. The entire trail makes for an amazing nature trail hike and cross country track for future meets and other events. It will also be utilized by the community as a place where families can come and enjoy the trails.

“Without the help from AdCap, this would NEVER have been realized. Tyler received a great deal of knowledge by going to the AdCap Conference this school year in Dallas, and even though he did not receive funds from AdCap during this conference, we really appreciate the participating organizations, and especially your mentors for encouraging our young entrepreneurs to apply on-line, which Tyler did. He worked hard to finalize his application and received the awarded funds needed to see this project come to fruition. We cannot fully express how appreciative we are. Tyler's idea started with just that...an idea....and it developed into reality!! This speaks volumes to our young people and our community that all things are possible.”
