Information Collection and Use

Personal Information

"Personal Information" means information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, address, phone number, email address, or other contact information, your location, whether at work or at home, and in some cases your username. Personal Information that we collect includes first and last name, gender, birth date, student and parent/guardian email addresses, the ZIP code of your school, phone number (which is optional), birth date, the name of your school, username and password. Username and password do not necessarily qualify as Personal Information.

Date of birth is required to determine the student's age. Those students over 13 years of age may continue with the registration process. Those students under 13 years of age are not authorized or approved to access the site, and will not be asked for any other information if they state that they are under 13 years of age.

First and last name is requested to help validate the student's profile credentials when the student requests to retrieve his or her username.

We request an email address because it is the default method of communication with students. It also helps to identify the student, validate log in credentials, and recover a password. If a student over 13 does not have an email address, it is recommended that he or she set up an email account using a free email service.

Students may choose to provide a cell phone number, which we ask be his or her parent's/guardian's cell phone number. We may use this cell phone number to send program notifications in the same way that an email address would be used. Providing a cell phone number is optional, and any cell phone number provided may be removed from a student's Personal Information at any time.

In all cases in which we collect Personal Information, we specifically describe what information is collected in order to provide you with the activity, service, or feature you have requested. At no time does the AdCapYOUth website collect or store any other location data besides the information that links a student to his or her school.

The AdCapYOUth website collects Personal Information when you contact us, when you register, and when you use any and all related activities, services, or features.

We collect and store personal information from all users for the purposes of providing an individualized user experience and validating access rights to the desired account. Student email address may be used to verify account credentials, and is a requirement upon registration. GENYOUth values the privacy of all students registered for the AdCapYOUth website. All other questions and concerns can also be directed to Info@AdCapYOUth.org.

Parents/guardians may contact us at Info@AdCapYOUth.org to request that we remove their information from our database.

Registration for the AdCapYOUth Website

There are two levels of registration on the AdCapYOUth website. If you want to register as a student on the AdCapYOUth website, we will request your date of birth first. If you are over 13, we will ask for your first name, last name, grade, gender, your school's name, address and ZIP code, your email address and password. No student under the age of 13 will be permitted to access the site. If you would like to provide a cell phone number, you may, but doing so is optional, and you may remove the cell phone number from your account at any time. We use cell phone numbers as an alternative means of communication.

If you want to register as an educator/advisor on the AdCapYOUth website, we will request your first name, email address and password, and the school you are affiliated with.

To verify that the project has support of the school, an email will be sent to the school contact. Once verification is received, the review process for the project will continue.

If the parent/guardian and/or school contact do not wish to receive promotional communications, they may opt out and will no longer receive marketing or program emails. However, they will still receive transactional emails that are necessary for the student to complete the project he/she has designed.
